MUSIC ICONS

I’m doing a series of drawings depicting musical icons using the language of religious images. One of these shows The Notorious B.I.G. aka Biggie Smalls aka Christopher Wallace supported by his friends Lil’ Cease and D-Roc, moments after he was fatally wounded by an unknown assassin in a Chevrolet Impala SS. This is obviously heavily sylised and is not intended to depict actual events.

The other shows the three originators of the Detroit Techno sound, Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins and Derrick May, also known as The Belleville Three. They are depicted wielding a Roland 303, 808 and 909 respectively, machines which defined this new music.
